Trains in Houston’s East End contribute to the neighborhood’s industrial character and transportation infrastructure. The area is intersected by a network of rail lines that serve various purposes.
Freight trains are a common sight, reflecting the East End’s historical ties to trade and commerce. These trains transport goods and materials to and from the nearby Port of Houston, playing a vital role in the region’s economy. The rumbling of freight trains has become a familiar backdrop in the neighborhood, symbolizing its industrial heritage.
However, they are a consistent source of frustration and angst for the community with the noise and multi-hour stops spanning miles.
While this is not a local or city issue that can be easily fixed, we work with many organizations to advocate to federal officials and railroads to help bring relief to the area.
